I’m standing on a threshold.
In a couple weeks, my first book goes out into the world. Quantum Surfing: The Innovator’s Guide to Being Lucky, Aligned, and Unstoppable—the methodology for becoming predictably lucky, all in one place.
It marks the completion of a 15-year journey. From leaving my marriage. To owning a Fiji resort. To becoming an author. And everything in between.
Brianna Wiest wrote in The Pivot Year: “Happiness is something that is gently built. It is to live in a way that makes you feel grateful you are here.”
And Nakeia Homer in All the Right Pieces: “The old you is so proud of the person you are today.”
How true—and how easy it is to lose sight of that.
It’s hard to even remember old me. And yet I love her fiercely, just like I love my children.
I love when she stepped in the mud and truly felt the depth of feeling, the bewilderment, the vulnerability and the unknown. Yet once again cleaned up. Rose up.
I love when she remembered to celebrate and enjoy the moment, even when things were messy and not perfect.
I love that she is surrounded by people who love and trust her, who sometimes carry the load when it’s too heavy for one.
I love that she always finds a way—to get on, to appreciate beauty, and to build.
She is a builder. I am a builder.
We build places, communities, teams, companies. And as my mother once shared, “I build people.”
We build. We craft a dream and we bring it to life. We hold the energy of that possibility, of that destination. We create from what appears to be nothing—but in truth, it’s there all along.
We commit to the joy of the journey and gather momentum along the way.
Sometimes we see transformation as it happens. Sometimes we only see the meaning in the twists and turns once we look back.
Today, I’m looking back. And forward. Standing on the threshold.
And if this weekend is sacred to you—a time of passage, special moments, and renewal—I’m thinking of you. I’m remembering egg hunts on my grandparents’ lawn, kids in jammies with baskets, a braided loaf with eggs nestled in. The tiny moments where the real building happens. The bonds that strengthen us.
Sending love to your families, and honoring your thresholds too.
